Koh Samui to Phuket by Bus and Ferry
Koh Samui has several services for Phuket everyday that take around eight hours to get to the island. The trip begins with a transfer from your hotel to the bus station in Nathon, one hour prior to departure, on the west side of the island. From the station you will board the bus for Surat Thani City. The bus has both VIP and Economy seats available, with the chief difference being legroom, space for reclining, and snacks served to the VIPs. There will be a toilet on board the bus and light snacks will be serves. All the buses are air-conditioned.
From Nathon bus station, you will head to the ferry pier and take the ferry to Donsak, the port town. It is a ninety-minute journey. When you reach Donsak, you will board the bus again and continue the journey to Surat Thani bus station that is about eighty minutes away.
You will have half an hour before you have to take the next bus in Surat Thani for Phuket. You will find that there are two buses for Phuket, one for the Phuket Bus Station and the other for Patong. You have to take the bus that is heading to the destination close to yours. The bus attendants will be there to guide you if you need any help, and the signs on buses and terminals are very clear and visible.
