Koh Samui to Khao Lak by Bus and Ferry
It takes about seven hours to get to Khao Lak from Koh Samui, and the only mode of conveyance is by bus and ferry. The transfer services for Khao Lak operate daily in Koh Samui.

This journey has two legs. The first leg is the journey to the ferry port where you get off the bus and board the ferry. The ferry will take you to Donsak in a ninety-minute ride. The ferries are strong enough to withstand strong waves in the sea, are maintained to the highest standards under the Thai Navy regulations, and have plenty of seating on board (air-conditioned), along with a sundeck, bathroom, and a shop for food and snacks. From Donsak, you will head to Surat Thani city on the bus in an eighty-minute ride to the bus station. Once there, you will switch your bus and board the bus for Khao Lak. The journey from Surat Thani Bus Station to Khao Lak takes three and a half hours, and there will be another stop on the way at a Thai service station.
